Rachel Cadman – Designer / Carver        Arthur Cadman - Furniture Maker

When we opened our workshop in 2000, we had a vision of what we wanted to achieve from our collaboration, and are very pleased that ten years later we have managed to build an ever growing reputation as accomplished designer makers with many challenging commissions and notable customers both at home and abroad.

Although our roles within the business are quite specific, often our skills do interweave resulting in a more unique style. We really enjoy working in a creative atmosphere with natural resources, and draw much inspiration from the landscape and all it contains. Oriental architecture and the movements of the early 20th centry, like ‘Art Noveau', have also played their part in influencing our style and enhancing our passion for our work.

We like to think of our pieces as 'functional art'  where sculptural form and practicality are blended to create ‘one off’ items which can be both used and admired. It gives us great joy to have the opportunity to make something that is absolutely unique in a modern world of mass production and repetition.

From the initial process of selecting the timber at the sawmill, right through to personal delivery, we endeavour to offer the highest standard of service and craftsmanship with each piece of furniture produced. This creates an enjoyable and rewarding experience both for us and the client.
